How it works
Sobra offers hotels and venues a simple, practical way to turn sustainability compliance into competitive advantage.
Our certified 5-month process transforms your food waste into nutrient-rich compost, right on site. Research shows that high-quality compost can replace up to 21% of industrial fertilisers in urban agriculture, reducing environmental impact and enriching local soil health.
With Sobra, you cut landfill waste, close the loop on food waste and deliver real, visible action that guests can connect with, giving them more than just memories to take home. It’s a proven, science-backed way to grow your sustainability story from the ground up.
Sobra transformation
Stage 1: Activation
Organic food waste is deposited into the first composter, where natural bacteria get to work, breaking down organic waste and kick-starting the composting process.
Stage 2: Decomposition
The semi-composted material moves to the second composter, where fungi and actinobacteria continue breaking it down. As the process slows, the temperature gradually drops.
Stage 3: Auditing
In the third and final composter, the compost matures into stable humus. It’s rigorously checked to meet certified standards (safe, high-quality and ready to return to the earth). This is where the loop closes: food waste becomes a resource, not a burden.
Sobra success
Your compost will be audited weekly, with key metrics (like temperature, moisture and oxygen) tracked for quality control. We handle the hard work, ensuring a hands-on, high-touch approach to guarantee your success.
You’ll know exactly how much waste you’re diverting and compost you’re creating, helping you share these impactful results. This robust, certified process ensures that your sustainability efforts are genuine, avoiding greenwashing and demonstrating real action.
Once completed, you’ll receive a certification validating your efforts and commitment to sustainability.
